Speaker systems shine at Avini

IRAN: The Avini Hall is a 1,700-seat multipurpose theatre and is the centrepiece of the Iranian capital’s Bahman Culture Club. Not only is it home to the Tehran Symphony Orchestra but it also hosts a wide variety of productions from musicals, plays and concerts to seminars and live TV and radio shows. To meet the demands of this broad range of performances, the board of directors of the club decided to upgrade the sound system with a particular requirement for equipment providing the highest standards of sound quality and reliability. Following a shoot-out between the main loudspeaker brands in Iran, Foujan Loudspeakers was chosen to supply a four-way, P Series system, which was installed by the company’s own installation division.

MC2 Audio T2000 and T4-250 amplifiers power the loudspeakers at FOH, front fill and stage monitoring positions, while a single MC2 Audio E45 drives four subwoofers located under the stage. XTA DP448 and DP226 management systems running Audiocore software handle the processing for the whole system, with the DP226 used for the front fill and left-/right-hand stage monitoring. In late 2007, three XTA SIDD (Seriously Intelligent Digital Dynamics) processing units, the first to be used in Iran, were also added to the system. ‘This powerful system is working in this busy hall without failure,’ said Foujan Audio’s Majid Jafari. ‘The top singers performing here comment on the great quality of the sound system. The combination of MC2 and XTA gives us the opportunity to fix the inevitable problems that happen during live performances very quickly. The sound engineer is now ready for any event.’

In January 2008, the Avini Hall hosted the 23rd Fadjr International Music Festival, which ran for 10 days. Founded in 1986, this has become Iran’s most prestigious music festival and draws musicians of all ages from the Middle East, Europe and Asia to participate in national and international competitions and to perform pieces in a number of categories ranging from International and folk music to classical, youth and women’s music. The upgraded audio system performed to great effect throughout the festival, and won further praise from both engineers and audience. ‘During the festival, the sound engineer from Vahdat Hall - our equivalent of the Royal Albert Hall in London - came to meet the Avini sound engineer,’ said Majid Jafari, ‘He reported that all the technicians and bands who played in the Fadjr Festival said that the sound was the best for quality, power and detail.’

Group managing director Ian McCarthy said: ‘At MC2 and XTA we are delighted to have been involved in the Avini Hall project and it is a great pleasure to do business with Majid and Mehrdad Jafari at Foujan Audio. They have a special enthusiasm for pro audio and run their business with a high level of professionalism. I am grateful to them for the support they are giving our products in the Iranian market.’
